We created a Return-to-Play Safely committee that gathered members from within our organization with healthcare, and first response backgrounds to outline a action plan to safely allow our players to get back on the ice. We worked directly with the City of Saratoga Springs Police, Fire, Rec and DPW to form this plan into the action plan for all user groups at the rink.
We are following guidelines and regulations set out by the State of NY, USA Hockey, and NYS Amateur Hockey. The safety of our players and families is our top priority.
Some of the highlights of our plan include
Reduced group size on the ice
(1) parent per skater allowed in rink
No locker room access (players come 90% dressed)
No Hockey bags inside rink
Temperature checks and contact information (for tracing) for everyone entering the rink
Mask must be worn at all times while in the rink (on and off the ice)
1 way entrance and exits from rink with multiple zones which are staggered to avoid groups interacting
Social distancing for parents who are viewing
Drill modification for players to avoid contact and close proximity
Additional cleaning protocols throughout rink
We are excited to let everyone know that our skills program with the Hockey Hut will begin this Wednesday January 6th. SafeSport Training is required for all adults that have regular contact with or authority over minors. Beginning this season, SafeSport is required every year rather than every other year. However, anyone who completed training in the most recent season (2018-19) will retain valid training status for 2019-20, and will complete training annually beginning in 2020-21.
As coaches apply, we will be validating if their Safesport is expired.
Thank you,

Saratoga Youth Hockey Families,
We are EXCITED to announce that HOCKEY IS BACK!!!!!!!!
In cooperation with the City of Saratoga Springs Recreation Department and the Department of Public Works, the Weibel Avenue Ice Rink will be opening Monday August 31st for use. At this time per the NYS Guidelines we can now hold On-Ice Skills Sessions to our membership. For the short term, we will be without Vernon as the City of Saratoga is replacing the chiller in that building.
We have decided as an organization to get this setup quickly in order to get our kids back out on the ice in preparation for the upcoming season. We will be offering two (2) skills sessions per week at each level of play for a period of three weeks, starting Monday August 31, 2020. Once the three-week skills sessions have completed, we will be holding our conditioning skates for all levels and tryouts for the 2020-21 Hockey season will be held. Dates and times for conditioning skates and tryouts are to follow in the coming days.
Our return to the rink will look a bit different this year and for the upcoming season due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the restrictions that we need to comply with. In our return to the Ice, we will follow all State, Local, and CDC guidelines to ensure all Players, Parents, and Coaches are all safe during this difficult time. Below are the additional measures we will all need to follow at this point:
These guidelines are in place for us all until further notice and we appreciate all the support and help of all of you to remain compliant and keep our rink open. We will be under direct supervision by the City of Saratoga on all of these requirements and will be notified/play suspended if we do not comply fully.
As masks/face coverings are now required everywhere you travel, we have a unique fundraiser setup to have your player or family show their support for Saratoga Youth Hockey. Store will only be open for a limited time to ensure timely delivery, so get those orders in FAST! Link Below
