SYHI Update - November 6, 2016

VOLUNTEER COACHES

We have submitted our SafeSport and NYSAHA Background certification effective 10/15/16. If you have provided us your screening number, thank you and know we appreciate your volunteer efforts!

If you have not provided us your screening number and completed SAFE SPORT, you MUST refrain from volunteer participation in on and off ice activities until you have completed your background check and provided us with the confirmation number.

LEVEL DIRECTORS

Please direct any level specific questions to your level director, which are found on the website.  If they cannot resolve any issue/answer questions, they will reach out to the appropriate party.

CHILD SUPERVISION / DECORUM

PLAYERS CANNOT BE ON BENCHES WHILE ZAMBONI IS ON THE ICE IN EITHER RINK - THIS APPLIES TO PRACTICES AND GAMES.  THE DRIVERS HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO LEAVE THE ICE IF THERE ARE ANY VIOLATIONS OF THIS POLICY.

At any rink, home or away, please be sure to provide adequate supervision to siblings and children not participating in on ice activities. Please be sure your children are not roaming any facilities unsupervised.

We are receiving regular complaints from the city about our kids using their sticks/shooting pucks, etc. in the lobby and other common areas.  The board will discuss means to remedy this (punish) at our next meeting.  Please help us… we do not want to impose punishments, etc.…

CELL PHONES ARE NOT TO BE USED, IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, BY ANY PARTY, IN ANY LOCKER ROOMS. We know it is second nature to have phones out, but for kids and coaches alike, they should not be in use locker rooms. This is in compliance with USA Hockey rules.  We need your help enforcing this.

The men and women who work at the rink for the City truly care about our kids and our hockey program, we all owe it to them to treat the facility and especially the employees with respect.  We have a lot of wish list items when it comes to things we’d like to see from the City, but it is hard to engage in discussions on mid to long term topics when board members are constantly triaging incidents reported by rink officials.

DIBS – SNACK BAR HOURS

We have a stocked and ready snack bar.  DIBS hours have been posted and more hours will be posted.  We will focus our hours of operations on times that are profitable for SYHI.  That means game days for Skidmore, Saratoga High School, SYHI and public ice sessions (Open Skating).

Additional DIBS hours can be earned at our upcoming Tournaments.  We will credit one hour of service for the following:

  • Snackbar hour of service

  • Raffle table hour of service

  • Scoreclock

  • Scoresheet

Level Directors / Tourney Director can approve additional hours for set up of tournament, tournament coverage and tear down.

Please note, we will not credit for penalty box coverage as it is a tournament rule that all teams cover their penalty boxes.
